This book can best be described as an idea book for advanced Access database
users. Within this second edition are solutions gathered by the authors and from
Microsoft newsgroup postings. A welcome addition are chapters devoted to importing/exporting
XML and working with .NET components (including an interesting example of calling
a Web Service from within Access).
There are also a multitude of
tips and examples on working with SQL Server, SmartTags, ways to bolster security,
running sophisticated queries, creating forms and reports, programming with VBA,
and working with Sharepoint Services (included with Windows 2003) for team-based
projects. Over 170 Access problems and solutions are detailed within the book,
and also included on the accompanying CD-ROM.
The problems presented in the book are comprehensive, and will
give advanced Access users the sharpened tools to designing databases right and
a reliable resource for being more innovative with the application.
